Democenter-Sipe Foundation is a technology transfer centre committed to promoting innovation with particular focus to Industrial Automation and Information Science Technologies. It associates Public Administrations, Research Institutions, Enterprise Associations and directly more than 60 Industrial Companies mainly acting in the mechanical, electronic-mechanical, electronic and other fields of the manufacturing industry. This network enables DemoCenter-Sipe to act effectively as a technology transfer centre, promoting demonstration programs, specialized conferences and also providing managerial and technical support to the companies wishing to pursue innovation and carry out research projects.

Democenter has a strong connection with the local, regional and national ecosystem for entrepreneurship: it is partner of about 1000 companies of the territory including large companies and SMEs. Moreover, it  has established good collaboration arrangements with Universities of its region, in particular the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia and the University of Bologna in order to enhance its' innovation and research capabilities.

It has more than 15 years of experience in European Projects and took part to more than 30 EU funded projects, mainly focused on Industrial Automation and ICT, covering key roles in management, demonstration and dissemination activities.

The energy agency of Modena "Agenzia per l'Energia e lo Sviluppo Sostenibile" (AESS) was founded in 1999 with the support of the EC SAVE II Programme by five partners (Modena Municipality and Province, Chamber of Commerce, the former energy utility of Modena "META" and the former local transport company "ATCM"). From then on, more members joined: Legambiente (environmental association), Unione Italiana Consumatori (consumer association), two local utilities and several Town Councils. 

AESS is a nonprofit organization and a member of the Energy Agency Italian network RENAEL. It is also accredited as Energy Saving Company by the Italian energy authority AEEG. AESS is primarily involved in the promotion of renewable energy sources, energy efficency and reduction of energy consumption among Local Authorities, SMEs, schools and consumers

Executive director Piergabriele Andreoli is a senior expert, having more than 10 years experience in renewables and energy saving issues.

The Scientific Research Centre (NIS) is the department of Sofia University, the biggest and oldest Bulgarian university, responsible for administration and support of the research and project activities on a contract basis.

Annually, NIS administrates over 300 project contracts with a total value of about 5 Mio EUR. Projects are funded on a contract basis by the National Research Fund (60%), the EC Programmes (30%), and by the industry. Over 500 researchers, mainly from the academic staff of Sofia University and 93 specialists from NIS take part in these activities.

The research activities carried out through the Scientific Research Centre range over almost all fields of natural and social science.
